ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my 1st time taking part in an Art Components Blog Hop.  I was intrigued by the topic of foliage because that has been my topic for most of the several years I have been building ceramic beads.  I commonly make a mold from crops and use it as the foundation for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I often hand paint on the coloured glazes and nearly never use underglazes. The photograph previously mentioned is a sample of pendants in my common way of earning.

For some time I have been imagining about other techniques of generating leaves and flowers.  I have a collection of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the household. I like their graceful flow and lyrical lines and variety.

 I resolved I desired to hand establish my leaves and flowers. These leaves (pictured previously mentioned) and some Victorian botanical drawings ended up my inspiration.  I limited my resources to utilizing an orange wood cuticle stick for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay system was a white stoneware clay which I fire to cone 5 (a bit previously mentioned 2100 levels F.)  I started compact but as time went on my leaves got more substantial and larger.

When it came to glazing what I designed I was a little bit stymied at very first.  I decided to attempt some underglazes which I never normally like simply because they are so stiff.  But I preferred all individuals markings to show up by the other glazes I applied.  So I tried out out a black and a blue.  I was not disappointed with the result.

What am I likely to do with all of these creations?  I program to use them in some of my no cost variety peyote sew jewelry.  And some I have positioned in my Etsy shop.
